Pieve di Comnaglia

small village nestles around the "Pieve", a rural baptistery church built in 990 AD on a site which dates back to the early Roman period. The early documented correspondence about Pieve di "Comunalia" dates back to 1050 AD.

The village has been restored by Eugenio and Louise Grippo not only with their usual total respect in the use of local materials but also with a firm belief that alternative energy must be the future of a civilised World. With this in mind the entire village has a bio-mass centralised heating system, photo voltaic panels and state of the art materials, including optic fibre and centralised satellite connection.

Comunaglia is at walking distance from a rustic and good priced restaurant-pizzeria and conveniently close to the small town of Trestina which offers all forms of shopping. The village is at very easy driving distance from many wonderful Umbrian and Tuscan towns and villages of art such as Perugia, Cortona, Arezzo, Sansepolcro, Gubbio and Assisi to name just a very few.

he Grippos have two houses to offer for rent and, having central heating as well as open fire places, they are available all the year round to their guests.

Maid service is given to each of these houses on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (excluding National Holidays) and a cooking service on demand.
