owards the end of the 10th century
on the previous remains of a Roman temple a church was erected to become the Pieve
of the valleys surrounding the hilltop of Comunaglia: the fertile Upper Tiber
valley and some of its tributaries.
A Pieve is a church where baptism, matrimony
and other religious sacraments can be given to people who live too far from the
town churches. Around the church over the centuries farm houses have been built
to form the small village of Comunaglia.
